A wise man recently said that what is most astonishing is that the

choices that we make have such a profound effect on the outcomes that we

experience later in life. He is about sixty and was reflecting on an

economics class in which they discussed possibilities.

How often do we think of the choices that we make as bricks and the

outcome as a house or a mansion. Are we thinking the right thoughts to

build a mansion with – or are we thinking in the gutters about the daily

problems that we face.

I see so many times that people forget the big picture while doing

the day to day. We head into our daily tasks with no consideration of

what meaning this will bring to ourselves and others. It becomes too

much work to find that meaning and we end up ignoring the creative force

of the universe. We create our own unhappiness and somehow boldly

justify it as okay.

It reminds me of the story of the three little pigs – one building

from straw, one from wood and the other from bricks. We all know how

that ended.

I think that the components of critical thinking and thinking things

through will become more important as the elements of creating solutions

for society.

Through each one taking small and deliberate actions every day – we

are able to start making changes, step incrementally towards a wider

impact and will in time transform the world.

I think it is time to start building mansions. Not only physically

but through our daily actions – one choice at a time. May you today,

through your thoughts, feelings, emotions and expression of yourself and

others be the change that you want to see in the world.

May the small and the simple, well thought through and well meaning

be a new way in which that change manifests itself to the benefit of

yourself and others.
