Change happens when directions start to differ from what it was before. It may not always be possible to predict the outcome of a particular change but there are always underlying forces that drive change. These forces are the pivots of change. If we can understand the pivots — we can direct the change. We may also be able to create new pivots to create a different change.

As a businessperson we know that competitors, markets, innovation and suppliers all play a role in where we are heading. We are not always sure where it will go but as long as we go forward we generally do not seem to have an issue. We do not often stand back and ask how to create the change that we want to see.

If we start working exclusively on the goals that we want to achieve we change direction quickly.
