The science of searching for a destiny is very poorly developed. If
we accept the teachings of most religious schools of thought then we
have a purpose on earth which is ours to discover and to live.
Discovering this why is a difficult task and I believe one of the
most challenging aspects of a free living. If we are free – then we are
not bound – and by not being bound there is thus no boundary to cross.
Having no boundary to cross, means there is no courage required, and as
there is no courage required, there will be no joy in achieving.
This then puts the premise there that we are never truly free – and
that there is always a why and another aspect or dimension of discovery
– a line of thinking that inevitably leads to the conclusion that
discovery is the purpose.
Another higher purpose is to seek knowledge of God, the universe /
universal – another journey that has potential but limited practical
application. Discovering that we are part of the infinite is but one
step towards seeing yourself as the creator of a destiny and a path for
self and others.
Maybe the journey is to be practical in all things – surely would
make sense if all that we had to do was to practice a certain reality
and in living this out – our purpose on earth would reveal itself.
All of these notions and the various pemutations of being are all
very unsatisfying theories of why we are here.
Sometimes I am not sure if I am still looking for a destiny… What I
have discovered though is that every day is an opportunity to interact
with others. I think that much of our modern thought has focused on the
individual finding self realisation. It is however not the individual –
but the interaction with others that make life fulfilling, powerful and
a journey worth taking. It is in the power of the collective that we
find realisation. It is the power of self expression that the link
between people are formed and that energy binds us all into a collective
spirit – that somehow ultimately contains our destiny.
