We are a lot more successful than we often remember. One of the
interesting ways to remind yourself that you are a positive and inspired
person is to think of a time in which you were really, really present
and aware – successful and to replay the memory in your mind.
We all have at least one of these experiences and if you have not had
one – make one!
It is not enough to relive the past – you have to bring it to the
present. Imagine you are there again right now in the first person –
i.e. as yourself, seeing through your own eyes, experiencing those
feelings in your own body. You can also intensify these feelings and
make them more vivid. hear the things people are saying, think the
thoughts you are having and experience it as if it is happening to you
right now.
The next two steps are critical to make this work. You need to
associate this experience with something that is easy to repeat – like
putting your hand on your heart, checking your watch, crossing your
fingers or putting three fingers together. It must be something that you
do regulary and can do without attracting too much attention. So do this
action and repeat the experience – i.e. put your hand on your heart
while you are remembering your success. Take a deep breath and smile. Do
this at least 10 times initially until you can get the same feelings,
pictures and sounds whenever you do that.
This is now a success anchor that you can use at any time to remind
yourself that you are successful and a great person. The recommendation
is to do this at least once an hour or twelve times a day.
I did this after coming across it in some of my readings and have
enjoyed the exercise – if only to remind one of the great things that we
get to do in life and to remember to breathe deeply. It reminds you to
put your energy into great things. Others have done it as well and have
reported that it gave them a tool to overcome negativity and to look at
things differently – often with profound effects. If nothing else – it
lets you smile 12 times a day.
